We hope you will join us in advocating for the FASD Respect Act by meeting with your Representative or Senators between November 12th and 15th for Virtual Hill Week! With the end of the 118th Congress coming to close at the end of the year, now is the time to push for Congress to pass the FASD Respect Act.
Between November 12th and November 15th, members of the FASD United Policy Team will be in DC meeting with members of Congress, and we want you help make an impact by meeting virtually with your Representative and Senators. It will be a busy week, but FASD United staff and other experienced advocates can join your virtual meetings if you want support.
Advocates have already set several virtual meetings, and we would love to help in any way we can. Email melfi@fasdunited.org if you are interested in joining us for Virtual Hill Week.
Already met on Hill Day during Impact Week (or any other time)? Now is a great time to provide updates on bill status, share this newly published article, or let them know about what went on during Impact Week.
Is your Congressperson already a co-sponsor? Send them a thank you and ask if they would like to display this sign outside their office!
To make advocacy, we have provided you with three different letter templates and some basic talking points:
- Letter to the Editor: Send this to media outlets to show your support and raise awareness
- Letter/Email to your Representative and Senators: Feel free to send any letters you want delivered to your Congressperson straight to me at FASD United and I will hand deliver them!
- Letter to friends, families, or local organization urging them to advocate for FASD awareness: This is a group effort. Use this letter if you want to urge others to advocate for FASD!
- Talking points: These basic talking points can be referenced, and you can find even more info here
