FASD United is thrilled to announce that Senator Raphael Warnock (D-GA) has officially signed on as a cosponsor of S.139, the FASD Respect Act, as of July 9, 2025. His support highlights the need to improve support and diagnosis for individuals and families impacted by Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD) while updating prevention efforts.
Senator Warnock’s support is the result of years of persistent advocacy by Georgia constituents, including Melissa Jacobus Cook, who has been engaging with his office since he first took office in 2020. We are deeply grateful to Senator Warnock, his staff, and the dedicated advocates who helped make this progress possible.

Why It Matters
Senator Warnock becomes the latest cosponsor of a bill that already has bipartisan support across the country. The FASD Respect Act provides a framework for states and communities to better identify and serve individuals with FASD through coordinated federal leadership and investment.
The House-passed SUPPORT for Patients and Communities Reauthorization Act (HR. 2483/ S. 2121) also includes updated FASD Respect Act language in Section 104, making it critical for the Senate to take up and pass the bill without delay. A vote for the SUPPORT Act (S. 2121) is a vote for sustained FASD services, research, and prevention infrastructure.
