While the Saturday Night Live “Winter Formal” skit was incredibly stigmatizing, it does highlight the need for broader awareness, training, and information that FASD Respect Act, if passed, would supply. If you are unhappy about the skit, in addition to reaching out to SNL to register a complaint, we encourage you to leverage this moment and reach out to your 2 Senators and 1 Representative and use the skit to inform them about why we need #FASDRespect. We’ve attached a copy of the Press Release issued by FASD United in response to include in your email. Your lawmakers may not be in a position to do anything about the skit, but they can act to pass FASD Legislation which would help to fight the stigma the SNL skit perpetuated.
