April’s Virtual Policy Forum provided the community with updates on FASD United’s current projects in the policy space, as well as a recap of the 9th International Research Conference on Adolescents and Adults with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders. You can view the recording in full and take a look at the slides at the bottom of this post.

If your Congressperson cosponsored the FASD Respect Act in the 117th Congress but has not yet signed back on in the 118th Congress, consider sending them an email urging their support and asking for another meeting. Feel free to use the email template below!

I am reaching out to thank Representative [name] for their support of HR.4151, the FASD Respect Act during the 117th Congress. As you might already know, the FASD Respect Act was introduced to the 118th Congress in June of 2023 as HR.3946. FASD (fetal alcohol spectrum disorder) is an umbrella term describing the range of effects that can occur in an individual who was prenatally exposed to alcohol. These effects may include physical, mental, behavioral, and/or learning disabilities with lifelong implications I would appreciate the chance to discuss the FASD Respect Act with you and provide you information on how it differs from the previous bill and its current status.
