We can celebrate the start of FASD Awareness Month a little early this year as three new co-sponsors have signed onto HR 3946 The FASD Respect Act! Thank you to Rep. Deborah Wasserman Schultz [D-FL-25], Rep. Susie Lee [D-NV-3], and Rep. Collin Z. Allred [D-TX-32] for officially becoming co-sponsors on August 25th. HR. 3956 now has the support of 17 Representatives, including Original Author Rep. Don Bacon Don [R-NE-2] and Original Co-Sponsor Rep. Betty McCollum [D-MN-4].
None of the three representatives were co-sponsors of the FASD Respect Act in the 117th Congress, and we are thrilled to have their support this time. While Rep. Wasserman Schultz is the first from Florida to co-sponsor and Rep. Lee is the first from Nevada to co-sponsor, Rep. Allred is the third from Texas!
If you need help with any part of the advocacy process (reaching out to your Senators and Representative, scheduling, how to conduct the meeting, moral support) please let us know! Email Chris Melfi in the FASD United offices anytime at melfi@fasdunited.org. You can also join us this Wednesday, August 30th, at 2:00 pm Eastern for our Monthly Policy Forum.
