FASD is often called a non-apparent disability, and too often it is treated as an invisible issue. The needs are real, but many decision makers will never hear about them unless we bring awareness to them.

Awareness is its own form of advocacy. Every time someone learns what FASD is, how common it is, and how underfunded its supports are, we move forward. Public visibility also tells legislators that this community is strong and knows what it needs.

So today, show how you spread awareness. Share a photo or a short story: your red shoes, an event, a conversation you started, whatever helps people see FASD. You do not have to share anything personal you are not comfortable sharing. Being visible is enough. Post it today and tag us and help put a face on a public health issue that has gone unfunded for too long.

Take a look below for a sneak peek at what we have planned through September 9!

  • 9/5, Visibility. Show how you spread awareness, and help make a non-apparent disability impossible to overlook
  • 9/6, Growth. Invite one person to advocate alongside you.
  • 9/7, Close the Gap. Connect your experience to what funding would actually change.
  • 9/8, Practice. Get call-ready with your script and your numbers in hand.
  • 9/9, Make the Call. Ask your legislators to fund the law they already passed.
