The FASD United Policy and Training Center was established in 2020 as a project of the National Organization on Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD United) to achieve public policy outcomes on behalf of individuals living with FASD and to train stakeholders to effectively participate in the pursuit of policy objectives.
Goals
1. Develop and disseminate an FASD public policy agenda and call to action
2. Pursue public policy outcomes that benefit the FASD field on a global, federal, state and local level
3. Establish and maintain productive relationships with public officials and their staff
4. Build a coalition of knowledgeable, active policy leaders
The priority in 2022 continues to be the passage of the Advancing Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders Research, Services, and Prevention Act, known as the FASD ReSPect Act, and increased appropriations for FASD activities at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Health Resources and Services Administration, agencies within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
Help ensure action on this critical legislation by joining the monthly FASD policy and training virtual forum and preparing to engage with your senators and representative to urge them to co-sponsor the bill.
